Exhausting Assault
Bold = Topic of discussion
Ok, at first I never even thought of using this skill since its a Dual with no + damage, but after messing around with it, its now my favorite Assassin skill. It can make 1-2-3-4-5-6 less linear due to requiring only a lead attack, so with a fast recharging lead attack or 2 of them, it breaks the 1-2-3-4-5-6 combo. While it doesn't give + damage, it gives exhaustion! This is fantastic for annoying monks. Even if you don't interrupt a key spell, you still get rid of some of their energy, along with increase your attack speed for one attack.
I'm sure it could fit in almost any assassin build there is, Why don't people use it?
Just for reference, I'm using it with this (RA of course >_>)
[Jagged Strike][Golden Fang Strike][Critical Strike][Golden Lotus Strike][Exhausting Assault][Fox's Promise][Dash][Resurrection Signet]
While we are discussing this skill, can anyone give me better attack skills to run with this?

Useful as a quicker route to Moebius Strike.

This skill was used when people actually ran moebius builds... most other builds need all their dagger skills to be high-damage to form a good spike chain.

From my experience you simply lose too much damage, you lose a good offhand and the assassin's greatest weapon, Dual Attack. It also ruins your chain by making it too long and thus making it more likely to be countered. It only shines when using Moebius Strike as Bobby has mentioned. I wouldn't bother using it even if it has a great mechanic otherwise.

It can help more in PvP, but I don't see a PvE purpose

Because there are better options and sins are used for damage more than interrupts, plus with them being able to KD serves as a better form of interrupting anyway. Plus using it in a build like you did just then gives it limited flexibility, golden fang strike is auto fail, may aswell use temple strike.

Actually, it's quite an interesting possibility for a PvE moebius build in areas and missions where interruption skills are wanted.

My sincere apologies, thought you meant golden skull strike. Yeh it could be used well as an interupt if you want to roll a sin as one. Use rigor mortis on a necro as support and change the elite to moebius strike.

[exhausting assault] fits on a pressure sin... and one of the only few viable pressure sins is [palm strike], which doesn't have a lead attack in the build.
also kd -> [falling lotus strike]/[falling spider strike] is way better, if you want attack chain compression. [golden phoenix strike]/[black spider strike] are sub-par, but still usable.

A common argument against Moebius builds is that weaker enemies often die before the chain reaches MS. Exhausting Assault (especially when paired with Sneak Attack) fixes this quite elegantly.

I use this skill a lot, its part of the RA/AB build I like using the most, opening with [Leaping Mantis Sting] as the lead to snare targets, followed naturally by [Moebius Strike] then [Horns of the Ox] to deal some pressure and [Twisting Fangs] to spike.

The only time I found Exhausting Assault to be extremely beneficial in PvE was when I did Unwaking Waters. Running Dstab + Exhausting guaranteed the 3-hit interrupt needed to distract Kuunavang's skills. Other than that, I usually found it much more beneficial to bring a offhand + dual over Exhausting Assault, especially when I wasn't running Moebius.

I never leave home without it. Sins that like to go toe-2-toe with warriors and dervs use this in their builds. Any sins with half a mind how to play this class will usually use this skill everywhere they can. (pwns eles like crazy)

right...thats exactly what people need, to kill things slower...
i can see using [exhausting assault] in your utility slot alongside [death blossom], and only used occasionally when necessary... but not as a replacement as the main dual attack.

if you really want your targets to be shutdown, then: kd + dmg > interrupt + no dmg

Being middle part of chain, it is quite hard to actually use it as interrupt:
You either prep with lead (best with disruption stab) and wait for foe to do something - not really good thing, you waste damage potential, and continuing chain will ruin your set up.
Or you just mash it brindly as part of combo. Which leaves any interrupt on chance rather than want, it will just interrupt action like autoattack most likely and again, gimps damage.
For assassin, best way to interrupt is to kill enemy. Ideally, that enemy will spend his last seconds pinned to ground.

Exhausting Assault is fun to use in a "omgwtflulz" build for AB.
Mark of Instability, Black Mantis Thrust, Exhausting Assault, Moebius Strike, Trampling Ox, Horns Of The Ox, Falling Lotus Strike, Dash.
Yeah, it sucks, but it's fun. You KD a foe to death xD
Outside of "lulz" builds, EA is not as useful as it seems.

I will admit that Dstab-Exhausting-Moebius is super hot.
